- Strength Day y'all!
- The Split Jerk is a beautiful movement that requires us to display speed, power, strength, coordination & balance to name but a few. You could very well say that the split jerk encompasses nearly every one of the 10 General Physical Skills as part of CrossFit's first model of fitness . (FYI, if you haven't read Greg Glassman's seminal article "what is fitness?" hit the link for a SUPERB lunchtime read!).
- This movement also allows us really hit some very impressive loads overhead (provided we are utilising the proper technique and not trying to muscle it up there). Be brave yes but also be switched on. You need to land confidently and braced to really like you are in control. Use all the work sets to build up to your best by the last set. Slowly add weight as you go (yes, we said slowly) and allow your confidence to flourish.
- If we aren't quite ready for this full movement then we will work on the Push Jerk or Push Press to hone down that foundational movement first.
- In any case lets spend a decent amount of time working on this and come away having learned heaps more about your snatch technique.
- Hold the standards. Form is priority as always.
- Scale as needed.
