15 Bodyweight Deadlifts

- Sometimes you are presented with workouts that look "easy" or "harmless" enough. Today could very well qualify for that list. Whenever you see a deadlift prescribed at your own bodyweight. First up it probably makes you look at the weighing scale at home! Next up you start to look at just how much in percentage terms (of your 1 rep max) does that weight represent to you. To truly get the right feel for this WoDs' intents you want to hope it isn't passing the 50%.
- Basically speaking, the lower the percent, the better.
- what we are getting at here is that, as you gain more experience lifting weights, you see targets like a double-bodyweight deadlift for 1, 2 or even 3 reps being a very attainable & awesome achievement. This is met after LOTS of practice and exposure to the lift. If you are not at this stage of your journey yet we will look to reduce the load down to 75% or even 50% of your bodyweight. Reason being is we want you to be able to walk up to the bar and simply be able to rep it out without too much thought. Quite often people will have a belief that you must only lift a very heavy Deadlift for it to be effective. This could not be further from there truth.
- Want to know what is "effective"? It's running down 67 steps, sprinting down the laneway & back again. Then tackling those same 67 steps, this time going UP. And then you walk up to the bar and rep out your deadlift without fail. And then you go do that 4-5 times inside of 15 minutes.
- Now that's "effective"!!
