- Back to the daily grind today so to speak. For many today represents the first day "back at it" after the festive period. And let's kick things off with a good ole fashioned Heavy Day!!
- Today we hit the massively functional movement, the Deadlift. This is possibly one of the most transferable skills you will learn doing CrossFit. The "simple" act of picking something off the floor & putting down again all nice & safely. This WILL transfer back to your everyday life and becomes more & more important the older you get as independence & functional competence become the name of the game.
- Today we are wanting to use the 6 working sets to build to what is known as a Heavy for the day". What this means is that we will lift as much as we can, WITH excellent form, on that given day. Percentages & old "glory days" numbers mean diddly squat if you have been having a wonderful time on your xmas break (as you should do). We will insist on NOT attempting any 1RM's today and want you to use this as the stepping stone to move forwards and make PROGRESS.
- In other news. Did you know that on Thursday it will be CrossFit CBDs 8th Birthday?!?! Yes yes, we are approaching the pre-tween phase!!
- We will mark the day with a throwback workout from 2012 & on Saturday 18th January we will have an awesome community day with a fun partner/team WoD (TBC) and some food afterward. Stay tuned for more deets on that one.
- Overall goal today is to build to a "Heavy Single for the day" across 6 working sets.
- Let's start the year right!!
- Hold the standards. Form is priority as always.
- Scale as needed.
