- What do you think of when you see Thrusters programmed? Do you fear them? Do you love them? Do you see the sense in them yet still begrudge them?? What we think internally can affect everything and this holds true to training too. If you see thee are Thrusters are on the next day and you groan aloud how do you think you will feel, subsequently perform in that workout?? (Here's a hint: Likely not very well!).
- Now imagine you saw this WoD posted and you see Thrusters, you are neither elated or dismayed. You just look at it and go "ok, they're up. Here's a chance to work on my efficiency & get comfortable with them". Now, how do you think you will do in the workout with that mindset?? We'd say better than the first scenario!
- Place a focus on todays WoD on that barbell. We will tell you that it shouldn't take you more than 2 sets to get through but we want you put some emphasis on how long you take after your run to get the bar moving. (Get it going sooner rather than later). And if you break on the bar how long are you taking to pick it up again??). To garner the intended intensity levels we'd like to see from you run hard, like real hard! Then hustle that Thruster and make those legs conditioned to squatting whilst tired. Choose a weight that will allow this and you are good to go!.
- One last piece on the mindset. This quote from Ben Bergeron sums things up quite well..... "If your inner monologue was played aloud to the whole class during a workout would you be happy with what was being projected??"
- If your answer to that is no then you know there's some work to be done in the top two inches department. Let's roll & we'll get there together.
- Hold the standards. Form is priority as always.
- Scale as needed.
- Stay Humble. Work Hard. Be Happy.
